<p>If you&#8217;re like most 7-figure coaches, you&#8217;ve probably experimented with using AI to understand your audience better. ChatGPT can help you build a buyer profile, optimize your copy from their point of view, and analyze survey results.</p>



<p>But &#8211; here&#8217;s what many successful coaches need to know when it comes to collecting real, valuable customer feedback:</p>



<p><strong>AI cannot replicate real conversations with your audience. </strong></p>



<p>It <em>can</em> get close. </p>



<p>It can do a verrrry good job of making you think you know exactly what is going on in your people’s heads. </p>



<p>But by the very fact that the answers it provides are based off of past information / data / sources, versus of the moment client intel&#8230; </p>



<p><strong>When it comes to collecting customer feedback for your coaching business, AI cannot tell you what your people are thinking about right now. </strong></p>



<p>It certainly can’t tell you what they love or hate about your offers, what you should be leading with, versus what you’d be better off just dropping. </p>



<p>It doesn’t know how you come across on coaching calls, or whether people feel like your support coaches are an adequate substitute for your magic.&nbsp;</p>



<p><strong>And the thing is, when you’re running a coaching business at scale, those things matter.&nbsp;</strong></p>



<p>They’ve always mattered. </p>



<p>But they matter even more now, at a time where your clients’ online conversations about your offer are playing a bigger and bigger role in future buyers’ purchase decisions.</p>



<p>I’m not saying you need to be led around by your buyers. As the CEO of a successful coaching brand, I know it&#8217;s your vision, your instincts and your hard work that&#8217;ve gotten you where you are today. I’m also sure you’ve learned on that journey that negativity travels farther and faster than positive reviews.&nbsp;</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">How to Gather Customer Feedback for Your Coaching Business</h2>



<p>So what’s a 7-figure CEO to do if she wants to tune into the real conversations her audience is having about her offer?</p>



<p>Here are 3 different approaches to gathering customer feedback you can implement in your coaching business:</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>1. <em>Survey Your Coaching Clients for Voice of Customer Data</em></strong></h3>

<p><strong>They&#8217;re all business assets that, at one point or another, might seem like the &#8220;silver bullet&#8221; you need to explode your biz.</strong></p>



<p>Like if you went all in on implementing that one thing in your business…</p>



<p>You&#8217;d inevitably &#8220;crack the code&#8221; on attracting ready-to-buy leads, converting audience members into paying customers in your sleep, and making your offer absolutely irresistible to your ideal clients.</p>



<p>And yet…</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">FB ads have gotten out-of-control expensive and become a highly competitive market.</h2>

<p class="" style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Let’s break it down:</p>
<p class="" style="white-space: pre-wrap;"><strong>Backend</strong> = Not something the general public can see. Exclusive to your existing clients. Only visible to those who’ve already purchased your signature offer.</p>
<p class="" style="white-space: pre-wrap;"><strong>Sales</strong> = With the goal of selling an additional product or service, whether immediately or down the line.</p>
<p class="" style="white-space: pre-wrap;"><strong>Automation</strong> = Sent automatically, without requiring action from anyone on your team. Triggered by your recipient’s action (or lack thereof).</p>
<p class="" style="white-space: pre-wrap;"><strong>Put it all together:</strong></p>
<p style="white-space: pre-wrap; padding-left: 40px;"><strong><span class="sqsrte-text-color--accent">Backend Sales Automations are flows, typically delivered via email (sometimes augmented by SMS &amp; other channels), sent to your existing customers at specific points in their customer journey, with the aim of offering them additional support in the form of a complementary product or service.</span></strong></p>
<p class="" style="white-space: pre-wrap;">These sales sequences are only seen by your existing customers. Hence, “backend”.</p>
<p class="" style="white-space: pre-wrap;">While they may accomplish other goals in the meantime, they have the ultimate goal of increasing customer retention and lifetime customer value.</p>
<p class="" style="white-space: pre-wrap;">And they are typically triggered by the recipient’s behaviour, e.g. immediately after they sign up for your program, complete a specific module or mark a particular achievement as “Complete”.</p>
<h3 style="white-space: pre-wrap;"><span class="sqsrte-text-color--accent">One simple example of a backends sales automation is offering a post-purchase upsell:</span></h3>
<p class="" style="white-space: pre-wrap;"><span class="sqsrte-text-color--darkAccent"><strong>Let’s say someone signs up for your signature program, a $2500 6-week program, at which point they are presented with the option to add a 60-minute 1:1 coaching call to their order for $500.</strong> </span></p>
<p class="" style="white-space: pre-wrap;">If that person adds the upsell to their order, they’re tagged as having purchased the upsell and their onboarding continues as usual.</p>
<p class="" style="white-space: pre-wrap;">If they don’t add the upsell, they can be tagged accordingly as well, then added to an augmented onboarding sequence that either gives them another opportunity to purchase the aforementioned upsell, presents them with an alternative offer, or both.</p>

<p class="" style="white-space: pre-wrap;">When my client <a href="https://www.suecrites.ca" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Sue Crites</a> reached out to me back in 2022, she had <a href="https://www.suecrites.ca/energy-in-motion" target="_blank" rel="noopener">a thriving membership community</a> and over a dozen digital products, but she wasn’t actively marketing those offers anywhere.</p>
<p class="" style="white-space: pre-wrap;">In the context of our work together, one of the sequences I created for Sue was a new welcome sequence, with the ultimate goal of getting new subscribers to sign up for her membership, Energy in Motion.</p>
