If you’re thinking it’s time to automate backend sales in your coaching biz, you might be wondering if you’re going to have to add a bunch of new tools to your existing tech stack.
Maybe you’re dreading the thought of having to switch to a big, clunky, all-in-one CRM to make behaviour-based backend sales work for you.
Worst case scenario? You have to hire a developer to build a custom system for your business’ unique needs.
Luckily for you, that’s NOT the case—at all.
In fact, I recommended the same tools I was using in my service-based business as a solopreneur when I worked with my first 7-figure coaching client.
Below, I’m going to share not only which tools I recommend for automating more backend sales, but also why I love them, how they fit into the Post-Sale Profit System, and which features help these tools have such a profitable impact on your bottom line.
Heads up: This post contains affiliate links, which means I may earn a small commission if you choose to buy through them—at no extra cost to you. I only share tools I actually use, love and think will benefit your bottom line.
But first – for this to make any sense – you’ve got to know what I’m talking about when I say “backend sales automations”.
For a full walkthrough, definitely check out this post in full, but as a quick intro:
Backend Sales Automations are flows, typically delivered via email (sometimes augmented by SMS & other channels), sent to your existing customers at specific points in their customer journey, with the aim of offering them additional support in the form of a complementary product or service.
– 5 Things You Need to Know About Selling to the Clients You Already Have
The Post-Sale Profit System, our proprietary backend sales system designed specifically to help multi-6 and 7-figure coaching companies add 5-6 figures in revenue per quarter, includes flows at 3 key stages of your customer’s journey within your signature offer.
In total, there are 9 Profit Levers we pull within your offer in order to ensure:
1) your clients feel fully seen, heard and supported at every step, and
2 you’re making the most of every opportunity to connect high-achievers with the high-level support they crave.

Now, assuming at this point you’re clear on what backend sales automations are & why it’s worth your while to install them ASAP—
Let’s dive in to the 3 tools I love, use and recommend when I automate backend sales for my clients.
Kit: The intuitive email marketing platform perfect for a visual overview of your backend automations
There are, of course, a ton of email marketing platforms out there, and most marketers have a favourite. Mine is Kit (formerly ConvertKit).
Why Kit is my email marketing platform of choice—for myself and for my clients
Having been behind the scenes of many different email marketing platforms over the years, I love Kit because it’s simple, straightforward and intuitive to use.
The Creator tier provides a decent level of analytics and all the features you need to run a coaching or service-based business online, while the Creator Pro tier provides even more insight into WHO is actually on your list, allowing you to:
- Dynamically sync subscribers in Kit to your Facebook custom audiences for stronger ad targeting
- Automatically score subscribers based on their engagement level so you have a keen sense of your list’s health
- Get detailed insights into how your marketing, landing pages and subscribers are performing, and
- Edit links in sent Broadcasts << A nice-to-have little feature for when you accidentally include a typo in that cart close email’s link!

Check out the full features of each Kit tier right here.
Why do we love Kit for The Post-Sale Profit System?
The #1 reason I love working in Kit when it comes to crafting the automations that power The Post-Sale Profit System is simply because it’s sequences and automations are:
1) Visual and
2) Clean & simple
Because the sequences I’m crafting within The Post-Sale Profit System include custom formatting that personalizes the content to your client’s interactions with your brand, it’s crucial for me to have an easy overview of what’s in which sequence, who is getting which emails, and how they’re all flowing together.
Not only does the user interface in Kit make this possible with far fewer clicks than other platforms (I’m looking at you, ActiveCampaign), the Visual Automations feature allows you to see how your entire flow is connected, again, without the clunkiness of many other tools.
Features in Kit that make it possible for backend sales to add 5-6 figures to your bottom line?
- Conditional formatting within each email makes it possible to personalize the pitch based on your client’s past interactions with your brand—this personalization can dramatically increase conversion rates and goes a long way towards making sure your messages are always supportive, never spammy
- Reliable tag-based automations that adapt your customer’s journey based on their engagement with your work. Because someone who’s happily raving about you to their friends shouldn’t get the same emails as someone who hasn’t logged in since purchase, Kit makes it easy to tag & segment your audience, delivering hyper-relevant messages that drive backend sales.
- DFY Platform Migrations: The people at Kit know that changing tools is a big, daunting task, especially when it comes to moving offer all your existing tags and automations. That’s why they offer a DFY Migration Service to help you get up and running as painlessly as possible.
Curious if switching to Kit is the right step for your coaching business?
Let’s both grab a cup of coffee & discuss.
Now, I’ve spoken above about Kit’s ability to personalize your emails—but without data, how do you know what should be personalized? How can you tell which message will move that specific person to buy?
The answer?
Typeform: A beautiful tool for collecting and utilizing Voice of Customer data
Sure, you could just use a Google Form or another free tool to power your intake forms, market research surveys and testimonial collection forms…
But why would you, when Typeform is both elegant and powerful, with a suite of integrations that make it ultra easy to connect with your existing systems?
Why Typeform is the ultimate data collection tool for coaches
It’s almost hard for me to define what Typeform is because terms like “online form” or “survey tool” are so incredibly insufficient for how valuable it can be.
Here’s just a handful of ways I’ve used Typeform for myself and clients:
- Quiz builder to segment & gather VOC from new leads
- Intake form for new clients and feedback form for clients at the mid-way point of a program
- Testimonial collection tool for client projects
- One-question surveys embedded on all my freebie Thank You pages
- Market research surveys that actually get responses
Why do we love Typeform for The Post-Sale Profit System?
As a conversion copywriter, surveys have always been a key tool in my research process, and from the moment I was introduced to Typeform, I was hooked.
Typeform’s forms are beautiful, and the fact that they’re so responsive and easily branded make them feel high-end:
Their streamlined, elegant feel makes them perfect for the Voice of Customer data collection that’s a key part of The Post-Sale Profit System:
Because when you’re selling a high-end offer, you don’t want to be driving new clients to a form that feels janky!
Especially during the all-important Activation Phase, when new clients are first feeling out what it means to be your client.

On top of the fact that Typeforms are pretty, and therefore, if you’re following these strategic tips, more likely to be completed, there’s also the fact that Typeform has a native Google Sheets integration that makes it ultra-easy to review and actually UTILIZE the data you’re collecting from your clients.
Features in Typeform that will help you make more backend sales:
One of the main factors in determining whether or not your forms actually get completed is the extent to which people feel like the questions you’re asking are actually relevant to them:
- “Ugh, they’ve asked me this before…”
- “Shouldn’t she already know this?” and
- “This isn’t even applicable to me”
^^ If your respondent utters any of those statements while they’re filling out your forms, your definitely not getting as many submissions as you should be.
That’s why I love that Typeform’s logic jumps and data recall allow me to:
- Skip people past questions that don’t apply to them, maximizing the chances I’ll get a real and meaningful response
- Pull data – like First Name or program start date – from your CRM into the forms, so your people know you’re paying attention to what they’ve shared before
- Redirect people to a different end screen based on their responses
Ultimately, collecting Voice of Customer data from your existing clients is a step in increasing backend revenue through The Post-Sale Profit System, and there’s no tool I like better than Typeform to get that important job done.
When it comes to using that data? That’s where this final tool comes in…
Zapier: The invisible glue that holds it all together
I’m sure this one doesn’t come as a surprise.
If you run an online business, you’ve probably heard of Zapier. It’s the Scotch tape of softwares. Invaluable for getting tech tools to talk to each other when no native integration exists.
I love Zapier because it makes implementing The Post-Sale Profit System easy, even when my client isn’t using my recommended tools.
In fact, ever since Typeform discontinued their native integration with Kit (one I’m still hoping they’ll bring back 🤞), I’ve been using Zapier to segment new subscribers added via my forms and create Custom Fields from clients’ form responses.
Why Zapier is better than ever at powering backend automations
Since Zapier has been around for such a long time, and been so famous in its category, it’s worth noting that they’ve introduced new AI features that make it easier than ever to figure out how to set up your Zaps.

How does Zapier help you cash in on automated backend sales?
One of the easiest ways business owners lose out on post-sale profit (and profit in general, really) is by signing up for more tools than they need (guilty!) and underusing the tools they already have.
Zapier helps you connect the dots, reduce friction and make your follow-up feel personal—without you or a team member managing every step.
Think: automatically sending purchase data from a checkout page to a landing page so a client’s name and offer history show up. Or triggering a Slack notification when someone submits a referral contact—so your team can follow up instantly while the lead is hot.
You can even offer white-glove support before someone asks for it: If a client submits an NPS score below 6, Zapier can automatically notify your team and send a Calendly link for a personal check-in.
These tiny automations don’t just improve the client experience—they quietly add up to big profit.
Curious exactly how?
So, if you’ve read this far, I’ve got to ask:
Are your backend tools working for you—or are they just… there?

We offer done-for-you backend sales automations that increase re-enrollments, referrals, and repeat sales. Fully tailored to your audience and offer ecosystem.
